SUMMARY:Protest Trump's Arch with Rep. Don Beyer
DESCRIPTION:As we’ve witnessed countless times\, the Trump administration regularly attempts to circumvent the rules and laws that have governed this country for 250 years. Now\, as a self-indulgent project\, Donald Trump plans to build a 250-foot arch without Congressional approval\, a clear violation of federal law. \nBut Trump’s planned construction of his “Triumphal Arch” is not only illegal. It is an affront to American veterans and their families. \nThe arch will sit on Memorial Circle along the Potomac River\, impeding the symbolic line-of-sight between the Lincoln Memorial in D.C. and Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia\, where hundreds of thousands of our nation’s military members have been laid to rest. \nThat’s why Public Citizen is holding the line against the construction of the arch to tell Trump and his administration to “Respect our Vets!” \nJoin Public Citizen\, Third Act DMV and other partners on October 1 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am ET at Memorial Circle as we demand the Trump administration withdraw its plans to build the arch and instead focus on the real issues that affect our active military members\, veterans and all Americans.

SUMMARY:Turn ‘I Don’t Vote’ into the Start (Not the End) of a Conversation
DESCRIPTION:You’ve heard it at the door or on the phone: “Oh\, I don’t vote.” Conversation over\, right? \nNot so fast. \nMore than one in three eligible voters skipped the 2024 elections—and here’s the surprising thing: many actually agree with Democratic priorities. If even a small fraction vote in this year’s midterms\, they can move our country in a more hopeful direction. \nIn this interactive 75-minute workshop\, Elizabeth Chur\, author of The Joy of Talking Politics with Strangers\, demonstrates how to use curiosity and empathy to engage with “high-potential” voters — those who rarely or never vote. These fellow Americans are often just waiting for someone to listen without judgment. \nWhether you’re a seasoned canvasser or phone banker or a brand-new volunteer\, this workshop will give you strategies for transforming “I don’t vote” into “I’ll vote\, and bring my whole family to the polls\, too!”
