Communities Not Cages
Communities not Cages is a nationwide, coordinated campaign—scheduled for April 25, 2026—to protest the expansion of ICE detention, particularly “warehouse” detention facilities. Led by coalitions like the Detention Watch Network, it aims to stop the construction of new detention centers and demand the shutdown of existing ones. Below are some We of Action and DMV-area events associated with the Communities not Cages national day of action on April 25th as well as ongoing opportunities to stay involved and informed on immigrant rights locally.

A. Direct Action for Detained Neighbors – La ColectiVA
- Letter Writing to Detainees 1-2:30pm (Panel Discussion 11:30am-1pm)
- Liberation Fund Donation – in the Venmo description, please write “Liberation Fund.” – goes directly to detainees and their families for items like hygiene products and commissary funds. Learn more about this La ColectiVA initiative.
B. Nature Walk for Black and Brown People 2-4pm by Arlington Regional Master Naturalists.

WofA for Action Auction
Thank you for the generous contributions to our spring online auction, which will be May 9-16th. We are raising money for our good trouble efforts! Sample contributions include a pontoon cruise of Lake Barcroft with your friends and beverages of choice, homebaked goods delivered to your doorstep, a custom pet portrait, gift card to Immigrant Food, gardening assistance, math tutoring, and a limited edition Lego globe. Even a September week on Cape Cod!

How to Recycle Vote YES Yard Signs in Arlington

Please go remove signs from the medians where you originally placed signs and starting Friday, from ANY median where you see signs.
The 3 signs they are collecting are:
- Blue & Pink Yes
- Blue & Yellow Statue of Liberty
- White Bad Design
Please do not touch or collect any “no” signs. Bring all signs you collect to 6216 23rd St. N. by Saturday, April 25th for recycling. You can stack them along the stone wall on the right side of the driveway.
