Good trouble costs money and WofA is launching this online auction for operational expenses (insurance, space rental, etc.) as well as material support to make an impact (postcards and stamps, Care Bear materials, etc.). The auction site is now live – please preview HERE
You can create an account and favorite some of the items you’d like to return to bid on. The auction will run May 26th – 31st. Get ready to bid on fun events like a boat ride captained by Edward; Washington Caps or Spirit tickets; or a firepit evening at Micaela’s. If you want to get away from the beltway, you’ll have a choice of beach or ski vacation rentals! There are beautiful artworks, homemade and resistance clothing, custom pet portraits as well as services like garden weeding, math tutoring and guitar lessons; plus gift certificates to some of your favorite local businesses! An important part of caring for our immigrant neighbors is ensuring they have the resources necessary to survive. We have several mutual aid requests that have come through trusted partners.

CALLS TO ACTION
Contact the Governor about Her Safe Spaces Veto
Gov. Spanberger vetoed legislation that would have protected our courthouses, hospitals, schools, and polling places, from warrantless arrests. ICE agents would have been required to obtain a ‘Judicial Warrant’ (a warrant issued by a judge). The vetoed bills, SB351 and HB650, had been passed by both chambers of the Virginia General Assembly. The Governor then issued Executive Order 16 to mitigate the veto — but it is vague and ineffectual. Please let Governor Spanberger know we are disappointed and ask her to immediately meet with bill patrons and impacted community members to set meaningful policy that addresses the imminent danger confronting Virginia residents in the places where they should feel most safe.
