Come help us connect with our community at the WofA Booth during the Arlington County Fair.

During your shift, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with fairgoers by:

  • Sharing information about WofA and our work in the community
  • Talking about our immigration initiatives
  • Helping people check and update their voter registration
  • Promoting smart voting practices and voter education
  • Answering questions and connecting people with volunteer opportunities

Knock Doors in Ohio for Sherrod Brown & David Pepper!

This summer and fall, the Arlington Dems and progressive partner groups across the DMV will be leading weekend road trips to Columbus, Ohio to knock doors.  Ohio is back to being a swing state this year, and we’re going to help re-elect Sherrod Brown and take back the Senate, as well as making Amy Acton as Governor, David Pepper LG, and flipping the nearby Ohio 15th District.  These trips are designed to be joyful, social, and open to folks of all levels of experience.  We’ll be carpooling there and back, staying with volunteer hosts, meeting for a group dinner, and meeting lots of voters who are sick of the madness.  More Info & Sign Up HERE

Call to STOP the RCV Ban for Presidential PrimariesIn June, the Democratic National Committee’s rules panel quietly added language to the 2028 delegate selection rules that bans state parties from using ranked choice voting in their own presidential nominating processes. Twelve state parties have used ranked choice voting somewhere in that process over the last two cycles, and not one of them was invited to present before the vote. This isn’t about whether you love RCV. It’s about whether the national party should strip states of a tool that’s working for them -a tool that more than doubled primary turnout in Wyoming and nearly quadrupled it in Kansas- while banning RCV sits on the Heritage Foundation’s priority list and inside Project 2025. Democrats should not be doing Republicans’ work for them.

There’s one chance to fix it: a vote of the full DNC membership in Austin this August. The fix is simple: strike the ban language and return the rules to what they’ve always been, with every state deciding for itself. No one would be required to use ranked choice voting; states would simply keep the right to choose.

URGENT! Fairfax Needs Poll Observers for the Primaries!

Certain moments in our history have been inflection points where individuals have stood up to protect civil and voting rights.  The election this fall is our opportunity to stand up for free and fair elections.  Poll observers are needed in local precincts in Fairfax County.   Please consider volunteering to serve as a poll observer or ask friends or family that might be interested.  Sign up via this link to receive training and certification hosted by the Fairfax County Democratic Party.  The primary on August 4 is a great opportunity to gain experience in advance of the November election. Mutual Aid

An important part of caring for our immigrant neighbors is ensuring they have the resources necessary to survive.  We have several mutual aid requests that have come through trusted partners. 

Some good news!  Two little girls have been reunited with their mother after she was deported.  Thank you for to those who helped cover the cost of airplane tickets for the girls and a chaperone!!

  • Nat is taking care of her 4 kids after her husband was deported to their home country.  She is looking to cover the rent for July for the room she shares with the kids.  Please donate here.
  • Another mom who had been previously detained, is seeking asylum for herself and her kids.  She needs funds to cover the costs for the process.  Please donate here.
  • A local community organizer needs help replacing the car that allowed him to transport community members, mutual aid supplies, and more.  To help replace it and allow him to continue this work, please see here.
  • Farmville Detention Center keeps detainees in inhumane conditions, including broken air conditioners during the recent heat wave. Donate commissary funds to support detainees through La ColectiVA here.
  • Lilian’s family is raising funds for attorney’s fees and other costs to bring her home after she was detained by ICE.  Please donate here.
